Farm-to-Table Series Highlighting Winterspring Farm Produce

I am SO excited to finally share that I have partnered up with Roxanne and Caleb from Winterspring Farm to do a farm-to-table series that brings you fresh, local ingredient recipes all summer long! I will be using produce from their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box every other week, starting with my first recipe of the series to be posted on Friday, June 19th. This series goes from June through the beginning of October, with the intention to highlight seasonal produce from an organic farm that focuses on promoting healthy and resilient soil, air and water through their regenerative and sustainable growing practices. This farm is doing some amazing stuff by implementing techniques that build soil health, limit soil erosion, create abundant biodiversity, and more all without using synthetic pesticides and herbicides. As a registered nurse who focuses nourishment through healthy recipes using whole food ingredients, this collaboration aims to give you nutrient-dense meals and beverages that are as beneficial for your well-being as they are vibrant.

Why Choose Organic & Regenerative Produce?

Did you know that the healthier and more biologically active the soil- the more nutrients, vitamins and beneficial phytochemicals your food will contain? Meaning if you eat a carrot that was grown in diverse and mineral rich soil you will absorb more nutrients when digesting that carrot than you would if it was produced on a conventional farm. Unfortunately, the produce we find at the grocery store contains fewer nutrients per pound than ever before in history, due to (among other things)- biodiversity and nutrient depletion in our soil along with the shift from natural farming to chemical farming. This makes it imperative to shop seasonally from local farmers who prioritize soil health and regenerative farming because healthy soil = nutrient dense produce = a healthier, better you.

Winterspring farm is certified USDA organic as well as certified by the Real Organic Project so you can rest assured that by purchasing their you are doing good by your family, your gut microbiome, and the planet! Organic isn’t *always* necessary when choosing healthier produce but it’s a great start for people who want to eat their veggies while reducing the amount of harmful chemicals they’re exposed to. Follow along as we cook up some delicious, nourishing food (and maybe a few fun beverages) that hopefully inspire you to get out of the recipe rut you’re in or eat local and support this small business! You can find the first CSA box farm to table recipe on my instagram @BetterWithLexi as well as Winterspring Farm instagram @Winterspringfarm on Friday, June 19th. While Winterspring Farm’s CSA box subscription is full for this season, they also offer seedling sales each spring and if interested you can sign up for next year’s CSA box subscription on their website at https://www.winterspringcsa.com.
