Hi, I’m Lexi 👋

I’m the founder of Better With Lexi, and I’m so glad you’re here!
Before we dive in, I wanted to share a little bit about me! When I’m not blogging, you can usually find me in the kitchen cooking up whatever pops into my head—or out on a hike with my husband Lukas, scoping out wildlife, flowers, and doing a lil bird watching. I love nature and believe most things can be fixed with a good walk in the woods.
Outside of blogging, I’m a Registered Nurse Care Manager, helping older adults in my community manage health and medical needs. I also recently became a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, and I’m excited to start working with clients soon!

My Why
The idea behind Better With Lexi began in 2019, when I started experiencing a host of random symptoms: intense stomach pain, chest pain, food allergies, brain fog, chronic fatigue, and more.
Like most people, I went to my primary care doctor, who referred me to specialists. Despite all of the appointments, medications, and advice, nothing truly helped. I was eventually diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and told there was no cure—only management of daily, painful symptoms.
I hid much of my pain and food allergies from family and friends because it felt embarrassing to go from eating anything I wanted to reacting to almost everything I ingested. At one point, after starting a new prescription, I gained 25 pounds in just two months. By then I was a year into my health struggles, and I realized no one was coming to save me—I had to save myself. I didn’t want to keep gaining weight, I didn’t want to feel sick anymore, and I was desperate for answers. That’s when I decided to take my health into my own hands.

My Healing Journey
I began seeing a Naturopathic Doctor, leaned on my nursing background, and spent hours reading PubMed studies and researching anything that seemed promising. Over time, I discovered that years of mold exposure, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, blood sugar imbalance, consuming inflammatory foods and everyday household products all played a role in my breaking point.
Through trial and error, I began piecing things back together. I’ve been able to come off unnecessary medications, heal my gut, clear my skin, eat without constant chest and stomach pain, and improve so many areas of my health.
I still believe in the power of Western Medicine, but I also believe we overprescribe medications and too often overlook foundational pillars like nutrition, sleep, movement, and stress. Addressing those made and continue to make all the difference for me.
What I’ve Learned
Since 2019, I’ve gone from living with chronic mold toxicity, anxiety, acne, depression, insomnia, elevated liver enzymes, and daily stomach pain and more… to finally starting to feel like myself again.
My liver enzymes are normal, I sleep through the night, the daily pain I once had is gone, and while I still experience occasional flare-ups, I live a much healthier, more balanced life. I also realized that health is a constant journey- one you will always be on, but in the end it is worth it to feel your best.
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that the power to heal and reverse chronic disease is already within us. With the right tools, knowledge, and perseverance, we can transform our health and our lives.

Why I Created Better With Lexi
This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned- in a way that feels real, practical, and encouraging. Whether it’s yummy healthy(er) recipes, science-backed self-care tips, or honest conversations about our mental health and what holds us back, I want this space to be a resource you can turn to when you need inspiration or support.
I’m not here as someone who has it all figured out—but as a person who’s going through it too. Think of me as your positivity queen and a reminder that you are not alone.
Let’s Connect 💛
Whether you’re here for the eats, the vibes, or to connect with me as a nurse health coach—I’m just glad you’re here!
