If you’re reading this- yay you’re here! My name is Lexi Burgett, and I'm so happy to meet you.
When I’m not blogging, you can find me in the kitchen cooking up anything from simple recipes to a 5-course dinner. I love the creativity that comes from cooking and finding out how much you can do with a pan and spatula. I’m a cup of coffee or tea in hand at all times kinda gal and have a slight caffeine obsession (which comes in handy being a nurse). I also love hiking and nature, partaking in all things craft related, and hitting up the local farmer’s market.
Thanks for being a part of my blogging endeavor, I’m always open to meeting new people so don’t be shy!
My “Why”
The idea behind Better With Lexi really began in 2019 when I started experiencing a ton of health symptoms ranging from hives to food allergies to chronic fatigue and more. As someone who has always been passionate about eating healthy and moving my body, I had no idea where all of those things were coming from.
I did what most of us would do – I went to see my primary care physician, and then was referred to a bunch of specialists following that. Despite all the appointments, medication changes and listening to what my doctors told me to do, nothing seemed to provide a lasting solution that didn’t require a complex medication regimen. That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands and start a journey to uncover the truth about my health.
By utilizing my nursing degree, doing a ton of self-education on a range health topics, and through trial and error, I’ve been able to get off of all unnecessary prescribed medication, found what aspects of our health system work and what ends up as a band-aid that prevents root-cause healing. Since I started this journey 4 years ago, I continue to become a better, more healed version of myself everyday. At this point, I've learned a lot about my body and nutrition that I wished I'd known before I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. While there is still so much more to learn, I went from being a person with chronic anxiety, depression, stomach pain, chest pain, etc. to someone who is living life without debilitating mental health issues and has greatly improved the frequency of gut-imbalance related flare ups.
As I keep walking this path to wellness, one thing has become crystal clear: the power to heal and reverse disease is within each of us. With the right knowledge, tools, and some good-ole persistence, we can do it. So I'm here as your cheerleader, your friendly guide, and someone who genuinely wants you to heal and live your best life. Whether we're sharing healthy recipes (that actually taste good), swapping self-care tips, or diving deep into the psychology of stuff that's holding you back, consider this page a tool in your toolbox to becoming a better you!
